WHAT DO WE RESEARCH?

We understand the body as a malleable system.

Our research units focus on the development of hybrid organisms, behaviorally adaptive cells, and biomechanical interfaces. The goal is to redefine – or dissolve – physical, cognitive, and ecological boundaries. In collaboration with international partners, we simulate scenarios for a regenerative society. Our genetic recombinations circle five different fields of use.

Genetic Resilience

GENETIC RESILIENCE

Strengthen vulnerable species to maintain our fragile ecosystems.

Medicine

MEDICINE

Enhance biomedical research and secure organ availability through hybrid donors.

Resource Management

RESSOURCE MANAGEMENT

Generate sustainable access to biological and technological resources.

Security

SECURITY

Empower hybrid bodies with enhanced defense capabilities.

Habitat Expansion

HABITAT EXPANSION

Enable new life zones through physiological adaptations.

OUR VISION

We want to reach new heights!

Our world is in transition – and with it, the boundaries of what is possible. IKARUS is an interdisciplinary research laboratory dedicated to advancing what it means to be human. Our mission is to dissolve evolutionary bottlenecks and reimagine the symbiosis between humans, animals, and the environment.

For us, responsibility means not preserving the status quo, but actively evolving it. In a changing world, ethics must not hinder innovation – it must evolve alongside it. We advocate for an ethic of adaptation, where care, progress, and functionality are no longer contradictions.

Our name is a reminder of the courage to think beyond convention. IKARUS merges scientific methodology with visionary thinking. What drives us is not the question of what is – but of what could be.
